Climbing up super-cold mountains just for the hell of it hasn’t always made great cinema. It’s actually a cool idea considering how harrowing and anxiety inducing clutching onto ice to keep from falling off a 1,00 cliff actually is, but let’s look at the movies we have to go off of. “K2” and “Vertical Limit.” Movies that are OK, not great.

I don’t count “Cliffhanger,” because it’s not specifically about climbing the mountain, but more about Sly being hard core and awesome.

With all that said, the first trailer for “Everest” is now online and I’m intrigued. To start off the film boasts a solid cast including Jason Clarke, Jake Gyllenhaal, Keira Knightley, Robin Wright, Josh Brolin, Emily Watson, Michael Kelly and John Hawkes. Add on top of that the fact the trailer actually makes us think there’s a real story involved and a part of me is looking forward to this film.

Is it just me, or does it feel like Pixar is slowly turning the ship around and reminding us why we love them?

Lately we have been bombarded with sequels and announcements of sequels from the film studio, but this year will see the release of two original films from the company. The first is “Inside Out,” which releases this month and the other, “The Good Dinosaur,” now has a teaser trailer.

Pixar has gone the “what if…” route with the new film and even though we don’t have a lot to go on it’s hard for me not to get excited for the simple fact that it’s an original film from the kings of original films.

“The Good Dinosaur” will hit theaters November 25.

First, the good news. Indiana Jones 5 has been officially confirmed and is in preproduction.

The bad news: We don’t know when it’s coming and there’s a chance it’s as bad as Indy 4. But we’re optimistic here at Flix Junkies and we’re hoping for the best.

As you recall Disney is slowly taking over the world much like the Empire itself and recently bought up LucasFilms, which included the rights to Star Wars and the studio is in full swing taking full advantage of that purchase. What some people forgot is that along with Star Wars, Disney also got the rights to Indiana Jones and all of his glory.

We knew it was only a matter of time before some Indy news popped its head out of the sand and here we are.

LucasFilms president Kathleen Kennedy made the announcement speaking with Variety. She said another Indy movie “will one day be made inside this company. When it will happen, I’m not quite sure. We haven’t started working on a script yet, but we are talking about it.”

So, that’s a start. For now we can only huddle together and pray to the movie gods that the powers that be learned from “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” and get back to the things we love; like giant rolling boulders and monkey brains.

The first trailer for “Legend” has released, and no I’m not talking about that freaking awesome 80’s Ridley Scott movie starring Tom Cruise and Ferris Bueller’s girlfriend.

“Legend” stars Tom Hardy and Tom Hardy as real-life twin brothers and known gangsters Ronald and Reginald Kray and their rise to power in London’s underground in the 1950’s and 60’s.

The movie has my interest with Hardy, who’s business card reads, “coolest guy ever,” and the true story of the Kray brothers, which is really fascinating. Add on to that the fact that the script was penned by Academy Award winner Brian Hegeland who also wrote “L.A. Confidential” and “Mystic River.” Hegeland is also acting as director on “Legend.”

“Legend” is due in theaters this September.

SPOILER TOWN — The new installment of the Terminator series, “Terminator Genisys” is still a few months away, but it’s making sure to stay relevant with a new trailer.

The latest trailer does two things: first it adds some story elements that make it seem pretty interesting and second, it totally reveals a huge plot twist and thus becomes a serious spoiler.

If you are hoping to go into “Terminator Genisys” spoiler free do not watch the new trailer. If you don’t care then watch away. If you don’t want to see it at all, then why are you reading this?

The trailer also gives a little hint about the obnoxious spelling of Genisys. Some billboards appear in the trailer with the word “Genisys” prominent along with a countdown clock. DOn’t know what it is, but let the theories begin!

TRUE STORYTON — The first trailer for the film “Masterminds” has dropped and I’d be lying if I said it didn’t have me chuckling.

The movie is based on a true story and has a great cast including Zach Galifianakis, Kristen Wiig, Owen Wilson and Jason Sudeikis. “Napoleon Dynamite” helmer Jared Hess directed the film with a script from an arsenal of writers including Danny McBride.

This is actually the first time Hess has stepped behind the camera for a film he didn’t write and I’m interested to see how his direction works with a script that isn’t the same minimalistic tone of his earlier films.

“Masterminds” is due in theaters on August 7th.

METROPOLIS — While we are still waiting for story details and actual set images from “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” we are getting more character photos.

The latest photo appeared on EW.com and gives fans their first look of Jesse Eisenberg as the iconic villain Lex Luthor.

Director Zack Snyder had this to say about their version of Superman’s notorious rival:

“He’s not any of the Lexes that you’ve seen, that’s for sure. Other than him being a captain of industry and one person to the world and another person to himself. And bald, of course.”

While people made a fuss about Ben Affleck being the new Batman we here at Flix Junkies thought Eisenberg as Luthor was more of a swing and a miss than Batfleck. While we’re still not sold on Eisenberg we do have to admit that this is a cool pic.

IMF HEADQUARTERS — Not many people would have expected the Mission Impossible franchise to recover from the disastrous “M:I 2,” but not only did it survive, we’ve received two great films from it.

Yes, the second film is tough to even talk about, but J.J. Abrams made was likely the best film in the franchise up to that point with “Mission: Impossible III,” but the box office returns weren’t great. Thankfully for us Paramount decided to let Tom Cruise take another stab at it and director Brad Bird gave us “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol” and the world will be forever grateful.

Now, that I’ve set that all up in effort to boost my word count we now have the first official trailer for the latest installment in the franchise along with a title, “Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation.”

The new trailer has us excited to see the gang back together with a few new additions.

The trailer even gives us a peek at that amazing stunt we saw in a viral video a few months back of Tom Cruise hanging on the outside of a flying airplane. Yes, he really did that. Granted he was strapped in, but still.

“Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation” wasn’t due in theaters until Christmas, but the studio decided to push it up to this summer to compete in the summer blockbuster season.

With the track record of the last two films and director Christopher McQuarrie we here at Flix Junkies are really excited about “Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation.”

The new M:I flick is due in theaters July 31.

AWESOME TOWN — Welcome to “Things That Are Awesome.” If you can’t figure out what this series is all about, well, then you’re not awesome.

We just find awesome movie stuffs and shove it in your face. But you love it and you know it.

This one is of the video edited by Jacob T. Swinney where he puts the opening and closing shots of 55 films side-by-side. The five-plus-minute video is pretty amazing and actually paints a better picture of some of our favorite films. The “Birdman” one really caught my eye.

THE CAPITOL — The first teaser trailer for “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2” is now online and calling it a “teaser” is an understatement.

The teaser dropped online Wednesday morning and it includes the transforming mockingjay symbol with excerpts of dialogue from each movie and then a new line from the upcoming film.

So far “The Hunger Games” series has arguably been the best YA adaptation to date and we’re excited for the new film. “Mockingjay – Part 1” left a little to be desired, but it was still entertaining and kept us hungry for the finale.

Lionsgate also released a new poster for the film that depicts the flying mockingjay surrounded by fire. Not really breaking new ground, but it’s still exciting to know we’re that much closer to the finale.

“The Hunger Games: Maockingjay – Part 2” is scheduled to hit theaters on November 20.
